I was born in a village where silence was the price of survival, and girls were often spoken for before they found their voice. By 14, I had narrowly escaped an arranged marriage only to find myself a young mother, judged by the world that saw my existence as a mistake, not a miracle.
School became my battlefield. I studied with a child on my back, shame on my shoulders and the echo of people saying, “You won’t make it.” However, my persistence saved me from giving up. Every drop of tear, every sacrifice, and every sleepless night became a step toward freedom! Education wasn’t a dream, it’s was and is my weapon.
I fought to finish high school and have my certificate because it’s a key to college and to a pursuit of a career for a better future. The fight didn’t end there, in the end of every chapter I opened, here comes a bigger dream, I dream of graduating college, university then came the idea of dreaming abroad so I fought to leave home so I could build home. When the opportunity to study abroad knocks at my door, I didn’t just pack my old clothes, I carried generation of struggles and unspoken prayers.
Today, I am not just surviving. I am shaping policy to protect the girls who are still being silent, still being married off, still being told, “You can’t.” I speak, I write, and fight not just for myself, but for every girl who doesn’t yet know her power.
Because I am Built from Struggle. Driven by Hope.
